I am from Las Cruces and excelled in science, math, and art throughout school. I completed a Bachelor's of Science degree from NMSU in the subject of Chemistry. I am now in the final classes of my Master's of Art in Curriculum and Instruction, also from New Mexico State. I have taught in two charter schools in New Mexico as the teacher of record, as a substitute teacher in many of the schools in the Las Cruces district, as well as tutoring at NMSU, and with private students. I'll say this straight out - Anthony is a must-have tutor for anyone who would like some extra help in Organic Chemistry. I haven't used him for any other subject, but it's highly likely that he would excel as a teacher for them also. Specifically, the reason I think he is an excellent tutor is that he can clearly and concisely explain concepts. There are plenty of people who have a good grasp of the subject they're teaching. What's rare, however, are the people with the ability to effectively communicate their understanding and knowledge to their students, and Anthony does this. I've had a few teachers over the past few years with Ph.D. credentials who are terrible at teaching because they cannot communicate their understanding effectively of the course they're teaching . Albert Einstein once said that if you cannot explain something so that your grandmother can understand it, then you don't understand it yourself; he often told colleagues he met teaching at other Universities to explain a new physics concept to him as if he were a child. So, getting back to Anthony, I would say he passes Einstein's test. Anthony is also very reasonable when it comes to his rate of pay. I am not going to say how much I pay him per session, but I will mention that he is sympathetic (as well as empathetic) to students of little means. So if you're worried that he's too expensive, don't. He will work something out with you. And last but not least, Anthony is reliable and committed. In Every session I've had with him, he has always arrived when he said he would (he comes to my apartment) and if anything comes up so that he can't make the original appointment on time or has to reschedule (which is rare), he has always informed me well ahead of time. My sessions with him typically last between 1 - 2 hours and he has always been focused each session on the subject and making sure I understand what we're working on and answers questions I may have without any impatience. I will end my review here, but I hope I've provided enough information for any prospective student who is looking for a tutor. A caveat I have, however, is that you cannot rely completely on any tutor if you want to master an academic subject. You must put in a lot of work yourself - read the chapters in the text book and DO THE PROBLEMS - if you want those A's. So, if you're willing to do that, I recommend emphatically that you give Anthony a try.
